Will someone out there help me!! LOL!! Will you listen and watch YouTube and tell me what part my mother, Anita is singing on the song Sunny Side Of Spain on the chorus. I am trying to figure out the melody to the song and it sounds like she is singing a harmony part and not the lead. They had a unique way of switching parts and I always thought that on this song on the chorus that she was on a harmony part and wasn't on the lead part, (that someone else took the lead) Her voice is louder and more distinct on the mix which would make you think it should be the lead but when I try to sing it alone and sing what she is singing it sounds like I am singing a harmony part. I just don't know. If anyone can give me an opinion, I sure would appreciate it!! You'd think that I would know, but I sure don't! Thanks!!!

In the movie Walk The Line it shows where June walked out in tears at an awards night and Johnny closely followed and caught her up leaving Vivian sitting inside the venue. My memory plays up on me at times these days but I vagually think I do actually remember someting about that in the media at the time. Can anyone clarify this for me?

I thought there would be more activity on this site. June Carter Cash was a very interesting person. I didn't know her personally but I know some people who did. I enjoyed her books. I think you get a glimpse of her personality through her books. She had such wit and personaltiy.

I have the Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash Duets CD. Can anyone tell me when the photo on the inside back of the CD case was taken? Johnny is wearing a white one buttoned jacket with JC embroidered on it and has a striped tie. June is wearing a three quarter length sleve blouse with a lot of frills on front with what appears to be a circular skirt. June's arms are crossed in front and Johnny has his hand behind her back, but they are not standing overly close. They both look quite young. Would this have been more about 1956/57 or would it have been in the early 60's.

Hi to one and all ! I am just trying to liven this place up a bit to see if we can get something started here that will bring more people to this group and enlarge it so that we don't have to worry about losing this wonderful site dedicated to the memory of the one and only greatest lady of them all ......
JUNE CARTER CASH !! After all that is what this site is all about. We have to start talking, joking, telling stories and yes even singing June's songs if we have to ( Give me a little time..... I'll figure that one out later) but we have to help msrobzombie some to keep this site going. It is a lot of hard work for her to try to keep this site alive all by herself so we need to at least check in every day and jot down a sentence or two so it'll show activity on here. .....And so..... I'll just start this little gig by saying that if the little bird that whispered in my ear made sure it crossed all it's T's and dotted all it's I's .... It would be to everyone's benefit to stay tuned in..... closely....... for the next 24 to 48 hours because just as soon as it gets it's last ducks in a row.......word has it that a special announcement will be made....... and believe me.....you wouldn't want to miss it !!..... IF it didn't cross all it's T's and dot all it's I's..... and get it's last ducks in a row and in perfect alignment with the star's......there will not be an announcement ......but the only way you will know is by checking in regularly and letting it be known that you were here ! Stay tuned.... |

| SusieQ0123 | Rosanne on June as a performer | 6 | Nov 1 2009, 12:54 PM EST by lovejuneycarter | ||||

I would just like to share this from an interview that I saw yesterday about Rosanne's new CD the List. This is just the part about her Dad and June. I really liked what she said.
JT: As a young woman, you went on the road with your father, Carl Perkins, and the Carters. How’d that influence you as a performer? RC: It influenced me more as a songwriter and guitar player. I learned how to play guitar from Helen Carter, Carl, and Maybelle a bit. We had long hours in the dressing room and they taught me all those Carter Family songs. That whole world of music was opened up to me. Then my dad made the list and that really opened the door on this vista of songs. It was a tremendous thing to sit in the wings every night and watch my dad. He had a very unique relationship with an audience and he took his full self to the stage. He was his best self on the stage. So I saw how he did that and I saw how June was unique in that she was exactly the same onstage as she was offstage. There was no performer persona in her. She could be talking to you and walk straight onstage without breaking the conversation (laughs). To see a woman that comfortable in her skin as a performer, that was inspiring to me. Here is the rest of it if you want to read it. http://www.the9513.com/rosanne-cash-discusses-the-list/

On the iwalktheline forum people kept saying that June was divorced from Rip in 1966. If that was true they would have been married 9 years. I did some checking and in her book "Among my Klediments" she writes "We had a daughter, Rozanna Lea, and we tried to have a good marriage. But it seemed Rip and I came from two different worlds. After SIX years, that marriage also ended in divorce." Ok, that would be 1963 she was divorced. She was not married as long as everyone was making her to be.

Many years ago I remember seeing an article and picture of June Carter at the Opry at the time of the death of Patsy Cline, Hawkshaw Hawkins and Cowboy Copas. It was taken behind the curtain when the Opry members decided that "the show must go on" despite the deaths of the three Opry members. It was an AP wirephoto sent to newspapers around the country. June was in tears, watching the performances from the wings. Has anyone else seen, or more importantly, could they publish this picture/article? I would love to be able to save it on my computer.

I took Jimterry's advise and have been trying to listen to Bill Miller's radio show. So far I have caught only one of Rosanne's interviews. Has anyone else been listening?
