On the iwalktheline forum people kept saying that June was divorced from Rip in 1966. If that was true they would have been married 9 years. I did some checking and in her book "Among my Klediments" she writes "We had a daughter, Rozanna Lea, and we tried to have a good marriage. But it seemed Rip and I came from two different worlds. After SIX years, that marriage also ended in divorce." Ok, that would be 1963 she was divorced. She was not married as long as everyone was making her to be.

Many years ago I remember seeing an article and picture of June Carter at the Opry at the time of the death of Patsy Cline, Hawkshaw Hawkins and Cowboy Copas. It was taken behind the curtain when the Opry members decided that "the show must go on" despite the deaths of the three Opry members. It was an AP wirephoto sent to newspapers around the country. June was in tears, watching the performances from the wings. Has anyone else seen, or more importantly, could they publish this picture/article? I would love to be able to save it on my computer.

I thought there would be more activity on this site. June Carter Cash was a very interesting person. I didn't know her personally but I know some people who did. I enjoyed her books. I think you get a glimpse of her personality through her books. She had such wit and personaltiy.

Has anyone read John Carter's new children's book? The name of it is "Momma Loves Her Little Son". I bought it and it is the sweetest children's book. June would be so proud to know he wrote this book about her love for him. I hope he writes more. Also, I heard that Roseanne was writing a book. Has anyone heard anything about that? I have always hoped that Carlene would write a book. Carlene could tell stories about her grandmother, her mom and aunts. I heard her on an interview once and she said she had started one but she just had not finished it. This was before John Carter's book Anchored in Love.

The movie Walk the Line was meant to be about John and June's love and passion for each other. Someone said the first wife was not protrayed correctly in the movie, maybe and maybe not. However, if I had been in Vivian's situation I would have behaved the same way (probably worse). You have got to realize that poor woman was going through a terrible time. She knew she was losing her husband and she was frustrated. Usually a woman can tell (or feels) when her husband has someone else. She knew he was on drugs & wanted to help him. He was becoming someone she did not recognize. When Vivian married John he was not a star and she did not know that much about the music world. Being on the road changed Johnny Cash. Johnny said in one of his books that the marriage failed because you cannot be a good husband and father when you are on drugs and gone all the time. There were a lot of girls before June. I think John & June were attracted to each other from get go. Maybe some day a movie will be made about John and Vivian's life together. All in all I liked the movie. Reese Witherspoon did a great job in playing June. Just my opinion.

I saw that clip on YouTube. That is the funniest thing. I laughed so hard I cried. Thanks for putting that on this site. I couldn't view it there had to switch over to the tube but it was great.

I love watching June on the grand ole opra (U-Tube). Some people may think she is corny but I get a kick out of her. You just can't help but laugh no matter how corney it is. That is one thing John loved about her, she always made him laugh. I just think she was a great entertainer. Like Rosanne said they threw away the mold when she was made her, no one is like her. She always had a lot of friends. Has anyone seen her do any of those old routines?

Who in the world is Letha Butcher? She seems to be Kathy and Ann's No. 1 enemy. They delete everything she says. I take it she was trying to defend June and got under their skin.

Someone made a comment that they heard that June controlled John. According to John's family and close friends-he pretty much did exactly what he wanted. I don't think anyone could or even tried to control him. I don't mean that in a bad way-that was his personality. I think John and June were the most interesting people I have ever read about. I did not know them personally but I have a friend that was very close to theM. I have read every book that has been written about them and I think I own all of them except Cindy's and that was mostly about her immediate family. June was not in it all that much. I have many magazines with articles about June & John in the early seventies. I even have the magazine that had June and Carl Smith on the front page that was in the movie Walk the Line. Now that magazine is OLD.

I noticed over a yr ago someone said they would like to read a book about the Carter sisters. A good book to read is "WILL YOU MISS ME WHEN I AM GONE". It is written by Mark Zwonitzer with Charles Hirshberg. It is about the Carter family. It is a real good book. Anyone who like the Carter sisters would like this book. The book has a lot about Maybelle and the Carter sisters.

I am from Germany and not used in your language. But i will try it anyway, because I would like to thank to all you wonderful people for let me know this great woman. A few months ago, I only knew she's the wife of Johnny Cash. I have never heard and seen her before. And now I'm falling in love. I love her voice, her performance, her loughing and her music. I can't stop watch and listen all about her. Thanks a lot to make this possible to me !!!

I enjoy the video clips and the recent songs of the week, but the current video clip relating to Thi Is Tom Jones is not playing very well. Meaning it is stopping and starting all the time.
Also the colour scheme for the pictures pages are a bit dark. I would prefer the White background. Apart from that, I enjoy the web site. Miss Valerie Parker. |
