Walk the Line
Feb 6 2009, 9:56 PM EST | Post edited: Feb 6 2009, 9:56 PM EST
The movie Walk the Line was meant to be about John and June's love and passion for each other. Someone said the first wife was not protrayed correctly in the movie, maybe and maybe not. However, if I had been in Vivian's situation I would have behaved the same way (probably worse). You have got to realize that poor woman was going through a terrible time. She knew she was losing her husband and she was frustrated. Usually a woman can tell (or feels) when her husband has someone else. She knew he was on drugs & wanted to help him. He was becoming someone she did not recognize. When Vivian married John he was not a star and she did not know that much about the music world. Being on the road changed Johnny Cash. Johnny said in one of his books that the marriage failed because you cannot be a good husband and father when you are on drugs and gone all the time. There were a lot of girls before June. I think John & June were attracted to each other from get go. Maybe some day a movie will be made about John and Vivian's life together. All in all I liked the movie. Reese Witherspoon did a great job in playing June. Just my opinion. 1  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

Hi ya'll. I absolutely love Walk the line and I love June and Johnny. They were awesome together. They both are big inspiration for all of us.
About I walked the line forum-I'm glad it doesn't exist no more. You are right that people just started be crazy and they posted things that could hurt many family members of Carter/Cash families. It's good that nobody will bad mouth June anymore.

I think deleting that forum was a very good idea. It started out with good intentions but it just got out of control.
Welcome to the site!

I am hoping that the people that felt it in their heart to protect June's memory will come over to this site. I would enjoy chatting with those who were June & John fans. I don't think that I walked the line forum would have been so bad if it had not been for a person who listed their name as Dorothy. It was due to her comments that people started because her information was not correct. She would just go on and on. Oh well, it is over now. I really enjoyed the new video of John and June's interview which took place in 1975. Do you find this valuable?

I think I have joined. I tried. I need to have my son help me. I worked in an office (oil co.) for 45 years and used computers but I still have not figured this out completly. I just retired almost two years ago.
I started being interested in June & Johnny after they died. It was around the holidays and they had a lot of stuff about them on CMT. I got so interested in them that I researched everything I could find on them. I think I have every book that has been written about them, plus magazines. Would you believe I have the magazine that was in the movie with June & Carl Smith? I got it through e-bay. It is really old & can't handle it much because it is real fragil. I, of course, always heard about June & John since his beginning but I was not a real country fan. I lived with a family while I was going to college & could have attended a concert (in the sixties) and dummy me did not go. I love to watch u-tube, they are so great together. When did you start being a fan?

"When did you start being a fan?"
Hi. I started two years ago I think when I bought CD of Johnny and June's duets. I'll be 20 very soon so I'm not so long fan. You're lucky that you have all that things. I'm Czech living in Czech republic so I didn't read anything because in our country it's not avaliable. I don't know why when there are many of CDs.

You must be a great fan and I wish I could see your collection. I dummy me too, that I didn't go to a Johnny Cash concert in 1997, that was in our region and only 1 hour length of the trip. I said to my husband, maybe it's the last time he is in Germany and I should have to go. I was pregnant at this time and at least to coward driving alone to the large city and then back home in the night. So I decided to save the money and buy a CD instead. I was often annoyed that I'm not gone, but since I know June I got more and more pretty sick about it. I'm sure she was there, maybe not on stage but perhaps in the front row as in VH1 Storytellers. Who knows? I was such a fool.

You were pregnant and would of had to drive alone to a large city and back home at night. That could have been really dangerous. I don't think I would have gone if i was in your situation either. Do you find this valuable?

Thanks to You Tube you can see them perform. That is what I have been doing. You would not believe my collection. I have researched these people since their deaths. I have books of interviews and magazines. I have every book that has been written by them or about them. I also have all cds. I have magazine that date back in the fifties. I have talked to people that were close to them. I feel like I know these people if they were related to me. That is why I get defensive when people start talking about them because they are not here to defend themselves. Do you find this valuable?

I only did it because I was so interested in them and wanted to find out all I could about them. My conclusion is that they were very complicated , they both had very unusual personalities but very good and kind individuals. They were good together through all of their heartaches and hard times. They made it. Do you find this valuable?

I've been a June Carter Fan since the 60's!!!! My daddy took me to a Johnny Cash concert when I was just 12 years old and I've never forgotten either him or June! :) I've seen them at least 4 times in concert and once was at the Original Jamboree in the Hills!!!! I was very upset though that Mother Maybelle didn't attend (she was ill). I think I was 19 at that time.

I took my daughter at age 6 to see a Johnny Cash concert and she still remembers June Carter dancing on stage and showing her red petticoat! :)

I love the original Carter Family but much prefer to hear the Carter Sisters sing with their mother! :)

I also LOVE Anita Carter and own all of her albums with Hank Snow! :)
