Quote-Robert Duvall
Jul 23 2009, 7:33 PM EDT
"I can well remember June cooking her famous "mater" (tomato) dumplings or helping John fix his tall, nightly glass of cold buttermilk with a big chunk of cornbread floating in it before he went off to bed. I remember well when June would amuse us all with the dancing of a jig or the mountain flat foot. Her humor was always in evidence-an entertainer at home and abroad." AND "I hope all of those who knew June feel as blessed as I do at having known her because we were all able to share a portion of her life." Robert Duvall, Foreword-Anchored In Love by John Carter Cash.

I wish I could have known this bright, funny lady. I would have loved to seen first hand her humor and her dancing. June had so many people in all walks of life that loved and respected her. I wonder if she ever knew how much she was loved as a person as well as an entertainer?

"I wish I could have know her too. The more I learn about her the more I love her. Today I was watching her with Carl Smith on youtube and I could not stop laughing she was so funny.I agree. In life, June stayed in Johnny's shadow and kept him alive and we knew them as Johnny Cash and June Carter. Now that we are all learning more of the wonderful person June was and what a great entertainer as well, I wonder if in twenty years time they will be remembered more as June Carter and Johnny Cash. June did write "Ring of Fire", the song that kept Johnny's career continuing. Do you find this valuable? |

She did write Ring of Fire. The song has a copy right and as far as I know was never contested. So after June dies a book comes out saying other wise. Man, give me a break. What else are they going to say????????

Robert Duvall was so right in is comments...she was a very special lady. I hope she knew how much she was loved...not only by her real family, but by her extended family who cherish her tenacity in her love for Johnny, and her wonderful ability to entertain. Johnny rightly called her his favorite entertainer....and he had seen many! I have read somewhere that "every man she met fell a little in love with June Carter."

I wish I could have also. Back in the early sixties I lived in Okla. City and had a chance to go & see Johnny & June but I declined. Boy, do I regret that now. I think I went to see Bobby Vincent instead. My interests were different than. I did get to see Loretta Lynn a couple of years ago. I think Loretta and June are a lot a like in some ways. Both decent women, in my opinion.
