I was wondering about wich child this was, was it about rosey ( her daughter) or rosanne (johnny's daughter) or isn't about a daughter at all.I would love to know that. Do you find this valuable?

I always thought it was for Rosanne and written by Johnny Cash. I have the cd that the song is on and Johnny is singing it. I will have to dig it out and do some more checking.

Actually the song was written by June, Anita & Helen. Never heard June sing it only Johnny Cash.

So which daughter do you think it was. I thought it was Rosanne because June always called Rosie "Rosie" or her "little Rose" ??????

I think it is about Rosey, she used to take a lot of drugs didn't she.And her full name is rosanna lee i believe. Do you find this valuable? |

It does get confusing. June mentioned how there was confusion over their names since especially since they were both singers and their daughters in her book. At the time the song was written, Rosey was just becoming a teenager. I think it was more a fun song about a parent coming to terms that her daughter is growing up. I don't think it was about drugs or even a wild lifestyle as the song has 'Rosanna' saying all I ever gave him was a smile. Rosey did have a rough life though. Do you find this valuable? |

I agree also. It's funny all this time I thought it was about Rosanne because she had just moved into their home after graduation.

The song was written by the Carter girls.She was too young to be too wild at that point but it was written about a daughter growing up and becoming somewhat out of control. They used Rosey (Rozanna Nix) as the character. Do you find this valuable? |
